New Years Strategies 2026

🎉 Your 90% Healthy Guide to Making 2026 Your Best Year Yet

Happy New Year from the 90% Healthy Podcast! 🎊

Welcome back, friends! Can you believe it? We’ve made it to the last day of 2025, and wow—what a year it’s been for the 90% Healthy community!

As we reflect on this incredible journey, we’re blown away by your support. Our audience continues to grow, and your engagement keeps us motivated and consistent. Here’s a little secret: neither of us might have stuck with this on our own, but having a commitment to each other (and to YOU!) makes all the difference. That accountability? It’s pure magic—and it’s one of those little tricks that actually works.

Let’s Talk New Year’s Resolutions (With a Twist!)

We know, we know—everyone’s talking about New Year’s resolutions right now. We almost skipped it because it feels redundant, but then we thought: why not give it the 90% Healthy twist?

Today, we’re here to help those of you who keep making the same resolutions year after year, only to abandon them by February (or March if you’re being generous). We want to give you a toolkit to:

✅ Pick the RIGHT goals

✅ Follow through the RIGHT way

✅ Create strategies that LAST

✅ Keep your sanity along the way

Process Over Perfection: The Key to Success

Here’s the truth bomb: It’s more about the process than the goal itself.

Setting an arbitrary goal without a process in place to work towards it? That’s a guaranteed recipe for failure. Whether it’s January 1st, July 1st, or December 1st, what matters most are the processes and helpers we put in place to make real progress.

And please—don’t try to completely reinvent yourself all at once. The data doesn’t lie: most people abandon their New Year’s resolutions by March at the latest. Life gets in the way. Over and over again.

The Worst Goal in the World 🚫

Let’s be clear: Setting a weight loss goal is the worst goal in the world.

It fails 99% of the time. No one takes a picture of their scale and hangs it on the wall saying “goal achieved!” It just doesn’t happen.

What Works Instead? Trainable Life Events 🎯

Instead of focusing on a number, ask yourself:

– What event is coming up in the next year or two?

– How would being in better physical condition improve that experience?

– Is it a wedding? A vacation? A milestone celebration?

Put THAT picture on your wall. Make it your phone’s screensaver. When you show up at that event and everyone says, “Wow, you look amazing!”—that’s worth every step you’ve taken. We’re not talking about sacrificing; we’re talking about investing in a process.

Better goals to set:

– Gain lean mass

– Improve cardiovascular fitness

– Build sustainable healthy habits

The Four Laws of Behavioral Change (Thanks, James Clear!)

If you haven’t read Atomic Habits by James Clear, make that your first resolution! (Get the audiobook if reading isn’t your thing—listen during your commute.)

James Clear’s framework is brilliant:

 1️⃣ Make It Obvious

Put your goal right out into the universe:

– Create a vision board

– Put a photo on your bathroom mirror

– Set it as your phone’s screensaver

 2️⃣ Make It Attractive

What’s attractive about your goal? If you hate the process, you won’t get through it. Find what excites you about the journey—not just the destination.

 3️⃣ Make It Easy

This is where process comes in. Don’t make things harder than they need to be. We have new tools available (hello, GLP-1s and other innovations) that can support your journey.

 4️⃣ Make It Satisfying

REWARD YOURSELF! When you hit milestones, celebrate them. Progress deserves recognition.

It Doesn’t Have to Be Another Full-Time Job

For those of you already juggling multiple full-time jobs (we see you!), remember: the 1% shift philosophy is all about small, sustainable changes that compound over time.

This isn’t a new concept—we’re just packaging it differently. But the principle remains: tiny improvements, consistently applied, create remarkable results.
